Student Demands Sex Video After Stealing iPod

Stealing someone's iPod and demanding home made sex videos as ransom is a pretty bad idea, and that's exactly what a 14-year-old Iowa school boy learned the hard way. The Davenport Central High School student stole a female student's iPod and then told her to record a video of herself performing a sex act and email it to him to get her media player back, according to the Quad-City Times.

Apparently the suspect wasn't too difficult to track down since he left a note in the victim's purse detailing what he wanted her to do along with his email address so she could send the video to him.

The suspect was charged with theft, extortion and sexual exploitation of a minor in the Scott County Juvenile Court. His name is being withheld because he is a minor.

Wow. If that isn't the height of stupid, I don't know what is. Let's see... I'll extort someone and then provide them (and anybody they see fit) with an easy way identify who I am. What a leap of logic!

I'd say that this slimy kid's parents need to have a long, possibly physical talk with him, but it looks like the authorities are handling that now. Also, if the kid is like this, there's a fair chance that he doesn't have the worlds most attentive and/or qualified parents.

Not to get too serious here, but I have a rather smart and strong-willed daughter, and even though I've rarely had to harshly discipline her, she knows that such things as stealing are wrong and that she doesn't even want to consider the repercussions she'd face if she were to do something like this. I think that should be the norm. Unfortunately, the trend (as I see it) is for many parents to be a lot more loosely involved in their kids lives, and for the parents to let the kids get away with a lot more, just for lack of wanting to bother with the effort and headaches of teaching them proper discipline.

It's not too surprising. One of my former students, who was 18 at the time, described her then-14-year-old brother as "Hormones with legs."

I would say that is an accurate statement. Some 43 years ago I was a 14 year old boy, but I still remember what it was like in regards to my sex drive.
