Bank of America Predicts 11M 3G iPhones Starting in May
Friday, March 28th, 2008 at 2:05 PM - by
Apple plans to build 3 million 3G iPhones starting in May and will build another 8 million in the third quarter, according to Bank of America analyst Scott Craig.
"Our latest channel checks point to a significant production build of a 3G iPhone beginning in the month of June after a initial small build in May," he said in a note to clients and reported by Reuters on Friday.
AT&T said last year that they would sell a 3G version of the iPhone in 2008, but didn't specify a launch date. Mr. Craig reported that he expects to see a Q2 launch and production to be much higher than his original estimates. Analyst Avi Greengart with Current Analysis pinned it down further to June -- which coincides with WWDC this year.
