Commercial Times: 3M iPhone 3Gs Ordered for June
Monday, April 28th, 2008 at 2:30 PM - by
Foxconn Electronics has landed an order for 3 million iPhone 3Gs, according to the Chinese language Commercial Times which quoted institutional investor sources in Taipei. Currently, Foxconn is the exclusive maker of Apple's first generation iPhone.
The commerical Times also cites sources at suppliers who said they have been instructed by Apple to begin preparing material supplies by the end of May.
Notably, the newspaper estimated that the iPhone 3G would sell a total of 24 to 25 million units in its lifetime.
Previously both AT&T's CEO Randall Stephenson and Apple's CEO Steve Jobs have made reference to a future iPhone 3G model. Most observers expect Steve Jobs to formally announce the product at Apple's WWDC keynote address on June 9th.
