Singapore Airlines Adds iPod, iPhone Connectivity

Singapore Airlines is set to join the iPod generation come August when it finishes adding iPod and iPhone connectors to some of its airplanes. The custom in-seat connectors will let business class users charge their media player, listen to music, and hear in-flight instructions along with their tunes, according to Sify.
The airline will be adding the custom connectors to its Business Class Airbus A340-500 planes that fly between Singapore and Los Angeles or New York. The custom connectors include a feature that allows the flight staff to push announcements and instructions to each traveler's iPod or iPhone so they don't have to remove their earbuds to hear what is being said.
Apple announced in November 2006 that it was teaming up with Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United to add in-flight iPod entertainment systems to airplanes. Those systems were expected to begin appearing in mid 2007.
