GearJuice Mobile Pocket Power by IOGEAR is a slick little mobile battery charger that fits in your pocket and can power or recharge mobile devices including iPhones and iPods as well as phones by Samsung, Sony-Ericsson, Nokia, and others.

GearJuice is powered by a Lithium Polymer battery. To charge it, either plug it into the included AC adapter or a powered USB port on your compute. A full charge of the GearJuice, which will take between 3.5 and 4.5 hours, recharges your device 2 or 3 times.

The GearJuice device is tiny -- 0.5 x 2. 2 x 3.3-inches and 0.15 pounds -- so it uses very little space in your pocket or bag and won't weigh you down.

Although the product is relatively inexpensive ($49.95), it includes everything you need and more -- adapters for a variety of devices, an AC power adapter (not shown below), an USB cable, and a velveteen drawstring carrying case.

The GearJuice worked flawlessly throughout my testing. I'd charge it up and throw it into my backpack, where it was always available to recharge my iPhone and/or iPod and did so 2 or 3 times before it needed to be recharged.

The Bottom Line

Although GearJuice doesn't integrate as seamlessly with your iPhone as the Mophie Juice Pack I recently reviewed, it provides pretty much the same benefit (extending battery life by 2-3x) at roughly half the price and has the added advantage of working with iPods and other devices as well as the iPhone.

GearJuice is ultra-handy and now has a permanent home in my backpack. I recommend it without hesitation.
