South Africa iPhone Launch: July 20
Monday, June 9th, 2008 at 8:45 AM - by
Apple's second generation iPhone could make it into consumer hands in South Africa as early as July 20 if insider information proves to be correct according to The Times. The iPhone will be available in the country on Vodafone's Vodacom network.
The Cupertino company is expected to announce the second generation version of its combination iPod and smartphone on Monday morning at its World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco. The event will kick off with a keynote by CEO Steve Jobs -- a likely time for an official iPhone announcement.
Analysts are predicting that the new iPhone model will include 3G wireless data networking support which is faster than the EDGE technology used in the current iPhone model.
Apple and Vodacom are not commenting on rumored coverage launch dates, or on the second generation iPhone.
