Apple Posts Support Article on Upgrading to iPhone 3G
Monday, July 7th, 2008 at 1:55 PM - by
Apple has posted a support article on how to replace an original iPhone 2G with an iPhone 3G and maintain saved SMS messages, e-mail accounts, photos, notes and other personal settings.
The Support Article is # HT2109, posted July 2, 2008.
The article steps the user through the process of syncing and backing up the old iPhone, then transferring the data to the new iPhone 3G.
The article also explains how to erase the original iPhone so that someone else can use it. Customers who do this may wish to check for the availability of new system functions or iPhone 2.0 apps that can conduct a "secure erase" available after July 11.
Last week, AT&T posted a video on the procedures for "handing down" an iPhone 2G to someone else.
Thanks to MacNN who pointed to this new support article on Monday.
