Vodafone: No Free iPhone Wi-Fi in Italy
Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 at 9:30 AM - by
Vodafone has apparently been working hard to make Canadians feel better about the iPhone 3G rates Rogers will be charging by hitting its own customers for even more cash, and now the cell carrier has confirmed that it won't give its iPhone users free Wi-Fi hotspot access in Italy. Unlike carriers in several other countries, Vodafone will charge Italy's iPhone users an hourly rate to access its own Wi-Fi hotspots, according to setteB.IT (English translation).
Vodafone revealed its iPhone contract rates for New Zealand on July 7, and like Canada, they come in at the top of the scale. Rogers, however, does plan to offer its iPhone customers free Wi-Fi hotspot access.
Vodafone has not yet said whether or not its Portugal or New Zealand iPhone customers will have free hotspot access.
Apple's iPhone 3G is set to go on sale on July 11 in about 20 countries. It will include support for faster 3G wireless data networks while maintaining support for EDGE, includes a built-in GPS, access to third-party applications through the App Store, and more.
