PhoneSaber Pulled from App Store

TheMacBox's popular iPhone app PhoneSaber is missing from Apple's App Store, but unlike other apps that vanished without a trace or an explanation, there's no mystery behind PhoneSaber's demise.

According to TheMacBox, PhoneSaber was pulled because THQ Wireless owns the rights to develop Star Wars-themes applications for mobile devices, which includes the iPhone and iPod touch. PhoneSaber isn't, however, dead and gone since the two companies are figuring out how to work together.

"I've had a chat with a guy from THQ Wireless and as we were always expecting, PhoneSaber is not allowed to be on there," TheMacBox Web site explained. "It was a very friendly chat, and the future of PhoneSaber was discussed."

The future of PhoneSaber is still in limbo, but at least in this case there isn't any need for second guessing or conspiracy theories. Should the clever little iPhone-waving app make a come back, it will likely have a slightly different form, and if TheMacBox has any say in the matter, it will still be free.
