There have been many SciFi books and movies based of the proposition where Man and Dinosaur compete for the top spot on this planet's food chain. The Jurassic Park series of books and movies will likely come to most folk's minds, but the story, if not the title or author, that sticks in my head is where primitive man meets up with and fight technically advanced reptiles.

In this story, humans and a species of reptile evolve in different areas of early Earth when the land masses were huge and separated by even larger bodies of water. A human male is captured by a party of reptiles looking to establish a foothold on the continent populated by humans and as the story plays out we see how socially and technologically advanced these lizards are, and we see their weaknesses. We also see how completely alien they seem, and how familiar. It was a really good book. Shame I can't remember the title.

Anyway, pitting Man against dinosaur is a good premise for a story, maybe even a TV series such as this new BBC series, Primeval.

The free pilot episode is actually kind of fun, if you can get past the heavy British accents. The EFX are well done if a little cheesy at times, and the story looks compelling enough to warrant watching a few more episodes in the series.

Of course, there are the dinosaurs, which are the original party animals.

OK, changing gears here: Imagine you have a little girl and a tragic event happens and you are told that she is dead. It's obvious that you would be distraught and maybe you wouldn't believe that your child is actually gone. Everyone around you insists that you get over the loss, but something in your gut tells you that something's not right, that maybe your child isn't dead.

What would you do?

The new Lifetime Movie, Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera Story is based on a real situation similar to the one I described. There's a free preview available on the iTunes Store and it really makes you wonder how far you would go on a gut feeling. Grab the preview and give it a watching.

Well, you can check out the rest. At just over two and a half minutes long it solidly lives up to the 'short movie' definition, but it's fairly entertaining. Just make sure you check your kidneys after you're done watching.
