iPhone, iPod touch 2.1 Update Due Friday

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple CEO Steve Jobs pinned down the vague September ship date for iPhone and iPod Software 2.1 to Friday, September 12, during his presentation at the company's "Let's Rock" media event in San Francisco on Tuesday.

The update includes fixes that should result in fewer dropped calls, faster iTunes syncing, interface improvements, and presumably other bug fixes.

The update will be available on Friday, and will be free for iPhone owners and iPod touch owners that have already upgraded to software version 2.0. The upgrade will be priced at US$9.95 for iPod touch owners that have not already upgraded to Software version 2.0.

Well, presumably there is some differences in the code between the iPod update and the iPhone update, maybe related to making phone calls????
