iPhone Software 2.2 Adds Google Street View, Podcast Downloads

Apple released iPhone Software 2.2 early Friday morning, sporting previously rumored features like Google Street View and the ability to download podcasts when away from your computer.

Along with Google Street View, the Maps application now includes public transit and walking directions, the ability to display addresses for dropped pins, and the ability to email locations to other people.

Users can now download podcasts directly to their iPhone when connected to Wi-Fi networks, Safari stability and performance has been improved, pressing the Home button when on any Home screen jumps you to the first Home screen, and users can now disable keyboard auto-correction.

The update also improved audio quality in Visual Voicemail messages, improved phone performance for fewer dropped calls and call setup failures, fixed issues with scheduled email checks, and improved formatting for wide HTML email messages.

iPhone Software 2.2 is a free update and is available through the iTunes application.

Downloading podcasts is great except all the info about the podcast content is truncated so you've no idea what the podcast will cover. Own goal from Apple.
