    • It must be a lonely place to be considered David Bowie's worst album by just about everyone, including the artist himself. As the last album before Bowie "rebooted" and formed the band Tin Machine, "N

    • Goldfrapp
    • On their latest CD, Supernature, Goldfrapp has put together a successful mix of 1980-era New Romanticism, German cabaret, and T. Rex glam that leaves you riveted even through the album's lulls. It's a great amalgam that sounds current without sounding at all dated.

AP: Toshiba Defiant After HD DVD Setback

LAS VEGAS - Toshiba reacted defiantly to Warner Home Entertainment’s announcement on Friday that they would drop HD DVD and support Blu-ray exclusively, according to the Associated Press on Sunday.

"It’s difficult for me to read the comments of the pundits that HD [DVD] is dead," said Jodi Sally, vice president of marketing for digital audio and video at Toshiba America Consumer Products. "We’ve been declared dead before," Ms. Sally added.

Mr. Akio Ozaka, head of Toshiba America Consumer Products was reported to be surprised at Warner’s announcement. "We were particularly disappointed that the decision was made in spite of the significant momentum HD DVD has gained," Ozaka said.

Despite healthy sales over the Christmas holidays of HD DVD players, and capturing about half the market for HD disc players, according to NPD, that number doesn’t take into account the considerable sales of Sony PS3s -- which all have Blu-ray players. In addition, Blu-ray titles have held a 2:1 lead in sales in 2007, sometimes reaching nearly 3:1.

The HD DVD Promotional Group cancelled a scheduled meeting for Sunday evening, and said, "We are currently discussing the potential impact of this announcement with the other HD DVD partner companies and evaluating next steps," the group said in a statement.

TVPredictions reported on Monday that Toshiba still "seemed to be in shock."
