Altec Lansing Introduces iM7 Portable Speaker System for iPod

Altec Lansing announced Thursday the iM7 Portable Speaker System, a new set of iPod speakers. iM7 features a cylindrical design, stereo output, a cradle that recharges your iPod, and S-Video and Composite video output connectors for connecting iPod photo to a TV while in the iM7.

The iM7 is comprised of two1" tweeters, two 3" mid-range drivers, a 4" side-firing subwoofer and a 4" passive radiator for bass. Signal processing is handled by an on-board digital signal processor for sending the correct signals to the correct speaker.

Like its predecessor, Altec Lansing's inMotion, iM7 features a battery-operated mode for portable use. iM7 also features a handle. For desktop use, the unit offers an AC power supply with an international plug set.

The also unit comes with an auxiliary 3.5 mm input that permits connectivity to CD and MP3 players, portable DVD players, TVs or VCRs, plus a headphone jack for private listening. For iPod owners, however, the device comes with the "Made for iPod" certification from Apple.

Lastly, iM7 features a wireless remote for controlling your iPod.

Altec Lansing's iM7 Portable Speaker System

The inMotion iM7 Portable Speaker System will be available in June at Apple stores and Altec Lansing's Web site for US$249.95. You can find more information on the product at Altec Lansing's Web site.
