Amazon Looking at Movie Download Service

Amazon is negotiating with Hollywood studios to start a movie and TV show download service. According to The New York Times, users will be able to purchase and download movies and other shows, and then burn them to DVD discs. Warner Bros., Universal Studios and Paramount pictures are all currently talking with Amazon, but none are willing to publicly discuss the status of a deal.
Amazon appears to be gearing up for a digital content battle with Apple and the iTunes Music Store (iTMS). The online retailer recently announced that it is also working on a music download service and its own line of portable MP3 players.
The iTMS holds the distinction of being the most popular online music and video downloading service, and companies like Napster and RealNetworks have been trying to chip away Apple's marketshare with little success.
Amazon isn't saying how much movie downloads will cost, or when the service will launch.
