Analyst: NVIDIA’s Chip Slated For Next iPod

Video card maker NVIDIA has been tapped to supply a chip for the next iteration of the video iPod, according to analyst Satya Chillara of American Technology Research. Broadcom currently supplies the chip that handles video playback, but Mr. Chillara said that NVIDIA's offering "adds 3D graphics functionality."
Based on that development, upcoming royalties from the launch of Sony's PlayStation 3, and the impending release of NVIDIA's next-generation G80 graphics chip, the analyst upgraded the company's stock from "Hold" to "Buy," with a US$25 price target.
