    • "Black Milk" knocks me off my feet in this collection of moody and eclectic songs. Massive Attack uses samples and keyboards in a very unique way, but not all the songs pack the same punch.

Apple Details iPhone Tech Specs

Apple revealed on Monday that the iPhone would offer eight hours of talk time instead of the originally announced five, leaving many people wondering exactly how the company came up with those numbers. Apple’s iPhone Web site has the details.

The iPhone Web site states that Apple conducted the battery tests with a pre-production unit between May and June. Default settings were used except for Call Forwarding, which was turned on, the Wi-Fi Ask to Join Networks feature was turned off, and Auto-Brightness was disabled.

With those settings, Apple was able to manage up to eight hours of talk time, 250 hours of standby time, six hours of Internet use, seven hours of video playback, and 24 hours of audio playback in individual tests.

Voice call tests were conducted on a 1900MHz network, and data service tests were conducted on an EDGE network. Apple used a closed Wi-Fi network with a dedicated Web and email server for its network tests, and the audio tests included a mixture of ripped CDs and iTunes Store purchases - all 128kbps AAC files.

How well the iPhone tech specs hold up remains to be seen since the combination iPod and smartphone won’t be available until June 29. Once production units start making their way into customer’s hands, independent tests will likely start cropping up right away showing whether or not Apple’s specs hold up inthe real world.
