Apple Not Tickled By iBuzz

iPods are showing up everywhere, and judging by the looks of the iBuzz, we mean everywhere. But it seems this little muscle stimulating iPod add-on left Apple Computer's lawyers tense instead of relaxed. Apple's U.K. legal team, according to The Register, sent iBuzz creator LoveLabs a letter stating that the company's promotional video violates a copyright the iPod maker owns.

The LoveLabs Web site offers plenty of details and examples, a few pictures, and some quotes from the letter. "Our client owns the copyright in all the images used in its 'Silhouette' advertising campaign and actively polices its rights in order to protect itself and its consumers," the letter states. "Certain images used on your website (www.ibuzz.co.uk) may have been copied or substantially copied from those in which our client own the copyright, without our client's consent... Your use of such images amounts to copyright infringement."

Apple isn't happy with the iBuzz video.

The video that has Apple's lawyers all worked up shows a silhouetted woman demonstrating the iBuzz against a colored background. The style does look very similar to the famous iPod silhouette commercials.

In the end, the buzz over the iBuzz video is likely to blow over. LoveLabs said that it has been in the process of redesigning its Web site for the iBuzz Two - a newer version of its iPod add-on that features a second vibrating attachment so you can share with a friend.
