Apple Restocks iPhone Supply

On Thursday, about the only place to buy an iPhone was the Shadyside Apple Store in Pittsburgh, PA. By Friday, however, Apple managed to resupply many of its stores although the west coast is still iPhone-dry.

iPhone availability through out the United States was spotty going into Friday with states like California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, and Arizona out of Apple’s combination iPod and smartphone. States like Colorado, Pennsylvania, and New York are reporting availability at some stores.

iPhone availability is limited.

Overall iPhone availability improves, however, in the eastern states. Along with New York, Connecticut, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Hampshire, and Ohio are all showing iPhone inventory in at least some stores.

Apple’s ability to keep stock moving to its retail locations is good news for potential iPhone customers, but bad news for early buyers that were hoping to make big profits selling units on auction sites like eBay. So far, buyers have been able to purchase iPhones in Apple and AT&T stores without much problem, weakening the after-market demand for iPhone resales.

Apple officially launched the iPhone a week ago on June 29 at 6PM local time. Lines began to form well in advance of the launch, and in some cases had been in place for days before the event. While AT&T stores sold out relatively quickly, Apple retail locations have been able to maintain limited quantities.
