Apple TV Benchmarked at Half the Speed of G5

The Apple TV was benchmarked with Xbench and produced results that were about half of a PowerMac G5 2.0 GHz, according to Matt Carrell at Xbench.com.
In terms of raw CPU power, the Apple TV score was 47.85 compared the PowerMac G5, DP, 2.0 GHz with a score of 100. Other results varied widely between the two systems. For example, the Apple TV performed very well on the User Interface Test, but only 30% of the G5 on the OpenGL Graphics test.
Overall, the total score for the Apple TV was 55.75 compared to the G5’s 100.0.
Other reports have noted that there are still key items missing from the OS in the Apple TV, not required for a general purpose computer. Even so, it’s interesting to see the capabilities of this Pentium M processor in the Apple TV.
