Audible Lines Up More Ricky Gervais Podcasts
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006 at 2:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Ricky Gervais' podcasts for Audible have proven to be a hit, despite the fact that they cost US$1.95 each while most podcasts are free. Frank Barnako reported for MarketWatch on Thursday that Audible has added two more episodes to the four already planned. He also said that the latest episode is number 11 on the iTunes Music Store.
Mr. Barnako spoke with Audible chairman and CEO Don Katz, who said: "We're thrilled at the response. It's been a big hit and indicative of the fact podcasting is beginning to evolve. We're being approached by a large number of podcasters would who would like to be in the world of on-demand paid programming."
Audible's contract with Apple to distribute its offerings through the iTunes Music Store runs through the end of 2007. Mr. Katz characterized the relationship between the two companies as "a very positive partnership. We have confidence it will last for a long time."
