BadApple Brings Early Podcast Support to iTunes

As originally reported by MarketWatch's Frank Barnako, an anonymous developer known as BadFruit Inc. has brought podcasting to iTunes with the recent release of the iTunes plug-in BadApple. While Apple will be doing the same thing within weeks when iTunes 4.9 ships, the person behind BadFruit noted on his Web site: "I'm worried that when and if Apple adds podcast support they will only list a few podcasts that they approve. Remember this is a company that sues web sites that say good things about their upcoming products -- bad Apple!

"Podcasts are significant because they offer a wide-range of diverse topics and ideas, not just those endorsed by one company. BadApple gives you access to all podcasts, - even ones which Apple might disagree with and never list in iTunes software."

BadApple currently works only with the Windows version of iTunes, but BadFruit said in a post in his message forum that he's "been working on a Mac version off and on through the course of development, but I haven't spent any serious time on it ... It's quite possible I'll have something ready within the next few days, if I can find the time."

A thread in BadFruit's forum is devoted to users expressing interest in a Mac version. In his FAQ, BadFruit encourages users who want one to say so on the forum, or send him an e-mail.
