Body Armor Stopped That AK-47 Round, not iPod

It was the body armor that stopped the insurgent’s bullet, according additonal details soldier Kevin Garrad relayed to the HavanaLion Blog.
Kevin Garrad told more of the story and said that after the firefight, he returned to his bunk and tried to listen to his iPod. "No music came on. He dug around in the pockets where he kept the iPod and pulled out the twisted hunk of metal that is in the pictures. He said that was how he found out that he had been shot during the fight. He was happy that his armor worked," wrote Nik Wilets who spoke with the soldier.
Photos at flikr had previously shown the damage to the iPod and how the bullet went through the edge of the iPod which is mostly plastic.
Even if it was clear to the soldier that it was the armor that saved his life, he said he was happy to get another iPod. "He�s talked to Apple," Mr. Wilet reported, "and is happy that they sent him another iPod. He�s gone through two already. If any others send him iPods he�ll put them in care packages back to friends in his unit who don�t have them."
