Catapult Transfers DV From Cameras to iPods, Other Devices

Bella Corporation on Monday introduced Catapult, a pocket-sized device that enables users to transfer digital video from a camera to an iPod or other device with a USB port. It offers such features as time-lapse recording, remote trigger recording, pre- and post-record settings, and the ability to record beyond three hours of video with its built-in rechargeable batteries and included AC adapter.

Catapult can be configured on a Windows or Macintosh computer, with the ability to create settings for up to four presets. It works with standard- and high-definition video cameras that have FireWire ports, including those from Sony, Canon, JVC, and Panasonic.

Bella said it will ship Catapult in the second half of 2006, with pricing under US$300. It will come with a neoprene pouch that has a second compartment for holding an iPod or two-inch external hard drive.
