Consumer Reports: 30GB iPod Its First Choice

Consumer Reports recently reviewed the video capable iPod, and was pleased with its performance as a music player, but wanted more out of its video capabilities. In the end, it ranked the 30GB model as its first choice for a high-capacity digital music player.
Consumer Reports liked that the latest full-sized iPods are slimmer and lighter than previous models, have a larger display, can play videos, and that they offer more storage at the same price compared to the models they replace.
On the downside, Consumer Reports felt the display's colors seemed a bit washed out, the battery doesn't last as long enough when playing videos. Display durability was another issue. The report noted that the iPod's surface could be scratched with a finger nail. It was also disappointed with the lack of included accessories: Apple no longer includes accessories like a wall charger and a dock.
The printed version of the article, which is in the January issue of the magazine, sums up the review quite nicely with the headline "New iPod: Great Music, So-So Video."
