DIRECTV Offers 72 HD Channels, 100 by Year End

DIRECTV of El Segundo, Calif announced on Monday that they are now offering 72 High Definition (HD) channels. Their goal is to reach 100 channels by the end of 2007.
The expansion, according to Derek Chang, executive vice president, Content Strategy and Development, DIRECTV, Inc. brings many of the favorite channels into the HD realm, including Bravo, CNN, ESPN/2, NFL Network, SciFi, Showtime, TBS, USA Network, and more for a total of 72. [A few are duplicates, PPV feeds.]
A complete list of DIRECTV’s current High Definition lineup was published by the company.
DIRECTV also pointed out that the DIRECTV 11 satellite is scheduled to launch in 2008 which will bring the total offering to 150 HD channels, 1,500 local HD and digital channels, and "new advanced programming services for customers."
