Dell CFO Admits Apple’s iPod ‘Really Turned Their Company Around’

Speaking at a Raymond James investor conference in New York, Dell CFO Jim Schneider was asked about his company's recent earnings miss and admitted: "Apple has come out with a nice product and I think it's really turned their company around." He also said that the Dell DJ MP3 player is "obviously not competing very well" against the iPod.

Mr. Schneider's remarks were reported in a Reuters article that noted Dell's third quarter profit was down 28%, while Apple's most recent financial results showed increased revenue and sales compared to the prior year. Desktop and laptop sales were also up 56% and 48%, respectively, showing that some iPod buyers have likely also been attracted to the Mac platform.
