DirecTV’s Major HD Expansion Imminent

DirecTV has stated that it will start a major expansion of its HD channel lineup in September. Recently, technical glitches have delayed the announcement, but there is evidence that DirecTV may be ready to make the announcement on Wednesday, according to TVPredictions on Tuesday.

Phillip Swann cited several indicators that DirecTV is ready to start adding HD channels as planned until it reaches 70 in October.

It’s been detected that some testing has occurred on channels 9300 and 9301 since Sunday morning. Also, the Smithsonian issued a press release stating that DirecTV would begin offering its HD broadcasts on September 26th.

DirecTV appears to want to keep its word about a September announcement, however, anything could happen. In any case, the massive HD expansion has DirecTV customers sitting on pins and needles.
