FastMac Debuts TruePower Battery for 4G iPods

FastMac on Friday added to its line of TruePower iPod batteries with a version designed for use with 4G (fourth generation) iPods. It replaces the MP3 player's original rechargeable Lithium Ion battery with one that offers 20%-70% more capacity and up to 7.5 times as many charge cycles, according to the company. The US$29.95 battery will start shipping the second week of August, but anyone who pre-orders one before then will receive a free iPod travel or car charger.

FastMac includes the necessary instructions and tools for changing the iPod's battery, but users who don't want to perform the work themselves can pay $49.95 to have FastMac do it. That price includes three-way shipping, professional installation and a 48-hour turnaround.
