    • Gimme Fiction by Spoon is a terrific album by an Austin band that I was lucky enough to catch on an Austin radio station during a Christmas visit.

Fox TV Cautious About iTunes Music Store, Other Outlets

Whereas its rivals have been eager to launch forays into new distribution models, such as the iTunes Music Store, Fox TV has been cautious. According to a Reuters article, Fox Entertainment president Peter Liguori told TV critics during a presentation: "It's been our strategy not to try to go out first with announcements but to go out with our best strategy. We're taking a more measured approach to what works and would not work."

Mr. Liguori acknowledged that the network gets approached often about distribution opportunities, but he characterized the situation as "a quintessential marathon and not a sprint." He added: "In terms of new technologies, it's so early and in the nascent stages of what we can do with this ... '24' is a great show for all those various options, but again, my job is to protect '24,' not to worry about what at this point is really a pretty meager audience."

Reporter Sue Zeidler noted that Fox's corporate parent has dabbled with promoting TV shows over the Internet, such as through its MySpace.com social networking Web site. And FX, Fox's sister cable network, recently said that it will let DirecTV subscribers download new episodes of The Shield and Rescue Me for US$2.99 each two days before they air.
