HD DVD Dealt Blow by Target, Selects Blu-ray

Target Stores will begin selling Blu-ray drives starting in October in anticipation of the holidays. The announcement will be made by Sony and Target on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Target told the AP that it’s not endorsing one format over the other, but the move must be seen as yet another setback for the HD DVD camp. The unit is the Sony Blu-ray model BDP-S300.
This decision for Blu-ray by Target, the corresponding impact for the holidays and Blockbuster’s announcement last month all suggest that the HD disc format war is close to over.
