  • Supernature

    • 10 out of 10
    • Goldfrapp
    • On their latest CD, Supernature, Goldfrapp has put together a successful mix of 1980-era New Romanticism, German cabaret, and T. Rex glam that leaves you riveted even through the album's lulls. It's a great amalgam that sounds current without sounding at all dated.

  • De Nova

    • 10 out of 10
    • The Redwalls
    • Wow! Perhaps my 5-star rating is simply because the Redwalls are not only new and fresh (none of them older than 22!), or perhaps its because -- despite their ages -- they are able to totally capture
  • So Jealous

    • 8 out of 10
    • Tegan and Sara
    • So Jealous is the third album from these sisters, and easily the one to single out for an introduction to their music. Some people may not get on board with their vocal styles, which are slightly

    • 10 out of 10
    • Boards of Canada
    • This one will haunt you. From the first notes to the last, their sound surrounds you. BOC has put out a fantastic catalogue, and this album is a great starting point for a new listener. Jump straight

    • 8 out of 10
    • Depeche Mode
    • Oddly enough, Playing The Angel is a return to form for Depeche Mode, even though it may well be argued that they never truly deviated from their roots in their more recent offerings. In the

HP Dumps iTunes for Rhapsody

Las Vegas -- HP is expected to announce Thursday that it will no longer bundle iTunes with new PCs, instead switching to RealNetworks' Rhapsody music service. Starting in Spring of 2006, according to a CNET report, HP customers will also get at 30-day free trial subscription to Rhapsody.

Unlike the iTunes Music Store, where customers purchase and download music and video content, Rhapsody is a content subscription service requiring monthly fees.

The deal with HP is potentially a major score for RealNetworks, since this positions it a little closer to HP's home media systems. Although the deal initially puts Rhapsody on laptop and desktop systems only, it may eventually work its way to HP Windows Media Center Edition PCs.
