InformationWeek Offers Solid Buyer’s Guide for iPod and iTunes
Tuesday, September 11th, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by Bryan Chaffin
InformationWeek has published a solid buyers guide for iPod and iTunes that will be of particular interest and use to those who may be new to the world of Apples digital media empire -- for most of those reading iPodObserver.com, think family members and friends turning to you for advice. The buyers guide frankly assesses each of Apples new iPod offerings and explains how iTunes works, including the FairPlay DRM part of the equation.
The guide, titled, "Apple Buyers Guide: iTunes And iPods Put Media In Your Pocket," also notes the potential for being stuck with Apple should one invest heavily in iTunes FairPlay restricted content. While it does so without delving into iTunes Plus content, it does explain the various ways one can use iTunes and iPods by either getting your content elsewhere, or by burning and ripping a CD of iTunes-purchased music.
The guide concludes with, "Apples DRM locks you in to their technology -- but that wont really be a problem until Apples technology ceases to be the best products available at the best price."
For those looking for a place to start in the world of digital music and media, InformationWeeks article will be very helpful.
