Jobs Second on MediaGuardian Power List
Sunday, July 16th, 2006 at 3:00 PM - by Jeff Gamet
Steve Jobs ranked as the second most powerful person in the U.K. media industry on the MediaGuardian 100 power list. The annual list ranks the top people in the U.K. media industries based on their cultural, economic and political influence.
The report say that after changing the music industry with the iPod, Mr. Jobs is now transforming television.
"Having transformed the way we consume music, Jobs is now doing the same for television with the launch of the video iPod, capable of showing films and TV programmes downloaded from the net. Hit shows such as Lost, Desperate Housewives and the American version of The Office are already available in the iTunes store. A next-generation video iPod and a new iTunes movie service are expected to launch later this year. Broadcasters ignore the new technology at their peril."
The number one position went to the BBC general director, Mark Thomson. Rupert Murdoch took third place.
