Joost Lines Up Advertisers, Prepares Launch
Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 at 3:00 PM - by John Martellaro
Joost has lined up some key, blue-chip advertisers as it prepares for its launch. Partners include United Airlines, Microsoft and Sony, according to the Joost Team.
These advertisers are just a few of the "launch partners" for Joost.
The Joost project has been beta testing clients for Mac and PC that will allow users to "tune in" to various TV shows on the Internet. The business model includes advertising, just as on regular TV. "While some advertising on Joost will resemble traditional 30-second television spots, others will take advantage of the interactive qualities of the Internet," the post said.
Other notable advertisers include Unilever, Purina, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Motorola, General Motors, Taco Bell, Lions Gate Entertainments, and the United States Army.
Apple, which prefers to sell content directly via iTunes, commercial free, was noticeably absent from the launch partner list.
