LG Enters U.S. Market for Digital Media Devices

LAS VEGAS -- LG announced Thursday at CES three new digital media devices, the PM70, JM53, and FM30. All three include music and video playback, supporting multiple file formats. These devices mark a first-entry in the U.S. market for LG, a market that has seen other manufacturers exiting in droves in the face of Apple’s iPod dominance.

The PM70 features a 30GB hard drive, a 4.3 inch video display, and some PDA functionality (Microsoft Outlook compatibility, e-mail viewing, more), and the ability to record video content directly from a TV, as well as the ability to play video out to a TV.

The JM53 has an 8GB hard drive, 30 hours of battery life, and support for MP3, WMA, OGG and ASF, and MPEG4 video. The unit comes with a 1.77 inch OLED display with 260,000 colors.

The FM30 is a 1GB Flash memory device that features 60 hours of battery life, and support for MP3, WMA, OGG and ASF, and MPEG4 video. It has the same 1.77 inch display as the JM53.

Pricing has not been announced, and Mac support is not clear (this story will be updated with that information when we can confirm it), and you can see LG at it CES booth, #8214 in Central Hall. The products have not yet been added to LG’s Web site.
