Madonna, Iggy Pop to be Part of iTunes Phone Spots, Report Says

Madonna, Iggy Pop, Little Richard and other music stars will be part of television commercials for the soon-to-be-released iTunes phone, a punlished report said Thursday.

London-based Brand Republic reports, "Motorola has signed an artist from every generation to appear in the ads, including Little Richard, Bootsy Collins, Lil' John, The White Stripes, Sleater-Kinney, Sum 41, Mya, Pussycat Dolls and Billie Joe from Green Day."

Look-a-likes of Beethoven, Jimi Hendrix and Biggie Smalls will also be featured, the report said. Negotiations are taking place with The White Stripes, Alanis Morissette and The Bravery to appear in the ads.

"The adsmay debut fromnext week,at the same time theMotorola phone with iPod personal music system is launched," the report said. "Madonna...filmedher piece for thead at Shepperton Studios yesterday (Thursday)."

It is expected Motorola and Apple, along with providers Cingular in the U.S., O2 in the the U.K., will announce the new product September 7. One report from an analyst at Banc of America claims Apple will also sell the phone -- or possibly various models of the phone -- under its own brand name.

As consumers wait, the Mobile Gazette has published what it claims are official images of the new device taken from a Motorola Russia press kit.
