National Semiconductor Wants iPods Back

Last month, National Semiconductor gave employees 30GB iPods to celebrate its most successful year ever. This month, it's asking laid-off employees to return theirs. The company says the iPods aren't the property of employees, but that's not the impression it made when giving them out, according to the Star-Telegram.
One former employee that contacted the paper said "Nothing was ever said about ever having to give it back. If I'd known it was company property, I never would have picked it up."
Company spokesperson, LuAnn Jenkins stated "They were not a gift," and added that she doesn't know if the company ever intended for employees to keep the iPods.
She also said that employees that leave the company are expected to return their iPod or pay "fair market value" for it.
For employees that are leaving, however, this news comes as a surprise. Some have already sold theirs, or given them away as gifts.
