An Evening with George Shearing & Mel Torm

Netflix Confirms Macintosh Video Streaming in 2008
Wednesday, October 1st, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro
Netflix plans to introduce Macintosh video streaming before the end of 2008, according to a company spokesperson Steve Swasey on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Netflix announced an agreement to make movies from Starz available for instant streaming at no extra cost above the customers current monthly unlimited subscription. The streaming service is available via PCs, and the Roku box now, the LG BD300 Blu-ray player when it ships on Oct 3, and in several weeks when the Xbox 360 receives an upgrade for Netflix streaming.
On Thursday, a Netflix spokesperson, Steve Swasey told iPO that before the end of 2008, Netflix will offer its streaming service to Macintoshes, just as they do now to PCs. That wasnt part of the official announcement, and Mr. Swasey said that Netflix has nothing more to add at this time.
Netflix customers who are Mac users have been frustrated about the lack of Mac support ever since Netflix introduced the streaming service for PCs in January. Lately, however, Netflix has been aggressive in expanding its services, especially streaming services. The addition of the Macintosh to the suit of devices, the PC, the Roku box, the Xbox 360, and the LG BD300 Blu-ray player will likely be welcomed with considerable enthusiasm by Apple customers.
