New iPods not Eligible for Apple Back-to-School Promo
Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro
Education customers who buy selected Macs can qualify for a free iPod (actually a rebate), but the iPods introduced on September 9 are excluded from the offer.
Apple has been running a back to school promo since June 3, and it ends on September 15. Qualifying Macs are all MacBooks and the iMac. Qualifying iPods are the 8GB iPod nano (3G) or 8 GB iPod touch (1G).
Apples educational promotion Website says: "Buy a qualifying Mac and iPod with your Apple education discount from June 3, 2008, through September 15, 2008, while supplies last, and be eligible for a rebate (view Terms and Conditions for exact rebate amount). iPod models introduced on September 9, 2008 are not eligible for this promotion."
This is unfortunate but not unexpected. Right after Apple introduces a new product, demand is high and production is still ramping up, so Apple will want to earn all the money it can on the newest, hottest products.
