OS Version Leaks Reveal iPhone Future
Monday, September 17th, 2007 at 4:00 PM - by John Martellaro
Several astute customers have observed various different iPhone configurations that hint at things to come.
At The Unofficial Weblog, a reader noted that at an O2 Gallery, an iPhone was photographed with an iPod setting that reveals a "TV Out" setting and widescreen option. Previously, Apple had posted iPhone cables for sale that suggested a video out capability, but that reference was subsequently removed from Apples site.
Jason OGrady noticed over at OGradys PowepPage that the example iPhone used in the US$100 Apple store rebate program on Apples Website shows a much later version of the iPhone OS, 1.1.1 (3B13) versus the current version U.S. customers have, 1.0.2 (1C28).
Mr. OGrady suggested that perhaps Apple is too busy putting the clamps on unauthorized unlocking of the iPhone to release the updates leading up to 1.1.1.
