Oops: iTMS Japan Sells Full Albums for 50 Yen ($.45)

The Japanese iTunes Music Store might have made a costly mistake at Apple’s expense last week. Asahi.com reported Tuesday that Japan iTMS sold "dozens of albums" last week for only ¥50 each (US$.45). The correct price is supposed to be ¥1,500 for most full albums, and individual songs are priced at either ¥150 or ¥200.
As is typical of Apple, the company declined to comment for Asahi.com over the issue, but the newspaper cited local music industry watchers who said it was most likely a mistake. Considering the fact that the store is a raging success, and that it has never used such pricing schemes as promotional vehicles in its other markets, it likely was a mistake.
