Shure Introduces E500 Sound Isolating Earphones

LAS VEGAS -- Shure announced Thursday a new earphone for audiophiles at CES. The E500 Sound Isolating Earphones include a "Push-to-Hear" option that allows the listener to choose complete isolation or to allow more outside sound to come through.
The produce uses three speakers per earphone, one tweeter and two woofers, and Shure said in its announcement that it offers "precise highs and the richest lows" that offer "accurate audio reproduction."
The sound isolation comes in the form of the fit and design of the earphones, and they block from 30-37 decibels of outside sound, according to the company. The E500 utilizes a soft, flexible sleeves that contour to the inside of the ear in order to achieve this isolation.
The product is priced at US$499, and will be available in May of 2006.
