Sony Unveils New Walkmans, Promises Video Models to Come

Sony this week showed off upcoming models of its Walkman MP3 player, with senior vice-president Hiroshi Yoshioka noting: "We are developing a product that handles images, but I cannot make any comment on specific plans." The company’s new NW-S700 and S600 series of Walkmans offer flash-based capacities between 1GB and 4GB, with pricing "at a slight premium" compared to the iPod, according to The Inquirer.
The main feature in the S700 line is noise-cancellation technology that uses a microphone integrated into the headphones to pick up and handle nearby sounds. Those MP3 players also include a three-line OLED screen and an integrated FM tuner. The cheaper S600 models don’t have noise-cancellation or the FM tuner. Both lines will debut later this month.
