T-Mobile Dropping Current iPhone in July

T-Mobile Germany may have revealed Apple’s time table for shipping the second generation iPhone, at least in Europe, thanks to a notice stating the current model will not be available after June 30. A note on the cell carriers Web site appeared recently that the current iPhone will be available only until the end of June, implying that the second generation model will be available at the beginning of July, according to ZDNet.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs is expected to announce the second generation iPhone with support for 3G wireless data networking during his World Wide Developer Conference keynote presentation on June 9. The current model started becoming more and more difficult to get ahold of in the weeks leading up to the WWDC event, leading many to believe that a 3G iPhone launch was immanent.
Most analysts agree that Apple’s next iteration of the combination iPod and smartphone will include 3G support because many European cell carriers only support that instead of the slower EDGE wireless data access currently used by the iPhone.
Apple is holding its cards close to its chest and has not stated when it plans to release an updated iPhone model.
