XtremeMac and Contour Design on Tuesday introduced their MicroShield and Showcase nano iPod nano cases, respectively. Theyre designed to fit the second-generation nanos, which have dock and headphone ports in slightly different positions than their predecessors.
The US$24.95 MicroShield, which will ship in early November, is a clear plastic case with built-in screen and click wheel protection. A detachable belt clip that rotates 360 degrees is also included; it has a pair of notches for wrapping up excess earbud cord. In addition, a custom Universal Dock Well insert allows the MP3 player to be placed in speaker systems and other accessories without being removed from the case.
The $32.95 Showcase nano features click wheel protection as well as dock port and headphone port covers, as well as a removable belt clip that fastens in four different positions. The belt clip includes a universal mount that will allow the case to be used with upcoming Contour iPod products. It will also ship in early November.
