Apple Struggles to Keep Up with App Store Developer Contracts

New iPhone developers have begun to face long waits for approval by Apple, while those who signed up early to create iPhone apps have become frustrated by an inability to get their contracts renewed in a timely manner. According to AppleInsider, new developers needed as little as two days to get set up with Apple last year, but now they're facing wait times that could be months.

One developer told the site: "Our corporate contract, submitted around December of last year, has yet to be approved after more than two months. And this is merely for a free app!"

Ars Technica looked into the matter and was told by an Apple Developer Connection (ADC) representative that the company doesn't have a process in place yet to renew contracts. "As soon as a process is in place, you'll be notified via e-mail or the website," the represenative said. "It's a new program. This program was not yet in place last year, and Apple needs time."

However, previous concerns that software could disappear from the App Store without a renewed contract were dismissed by the representative.

So, it’s become obvious that Apple is SOOOO overwhelmed by applications that maybe an infrastructure upgrade is needed.

And people thought the iPhone App store would fail. With over 25,000 approved apps, Apple has surpassed Windows Mobile apps.

It’s called growing pains. I hope they figure it out soon.
