AT&T Starting iPhone 3G S Pre-sales at 5PM ET

Customers hoping to be among the first to get their hands on Apple's new iPhone 3G S on June 19 can pre-order their phone from AT&T starting at 5PM Eastern Time on Monday. Pre-ordering will be available at AT&T's company-owned locations throughout the United States, and online at the AT&T Web site.

Apple introduced the iPhone 3G S during its keynote presentation at the World Wide Developer Conference on Monday, June 8. The new iPhone model will sport a 3 megapixel camera, better battery life, a built-in digital compass, support for HSPA 7.2 data speeds, and will maintain the same form factor as the current iPhone 3G.

The iPhone 3G S will be priced at US$199 for the 16GB model, and $299 for the 32GB model with a two-year service contract.

OMG

From Apple Store website fine print!!!

Requires new two-year AT&T wireless service contract, sold separately to qualified customers; credit check required; must be 18 or older. For non-qualified customers, including existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G, the price with a new two-year agreement is $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).

NO WAY!!!!

I already bought a iPhone 3GS 32GB as an existing AT&T customer upgrade from the Apple Store at 2PM. I sold my old iPhone 3G last week for $300.  Sweet.

I wonder how long it takes for AT&T to recoup the cost of subsidizing an iPhone.

Well this is my 3rd new iPhone in two years and each time I upgrade they snag me for another 2-year contract.  I think they’re all making money.
