Game Based on Movie ‘Shooter’ Arrives at App Store

Paramount Digital Entertainment on Friday announced the release of Shooter! The Official Movie Game, which features 30 levels of sniping action. Players assume the role of Gunnery Sergeant Bob Lee Swagger, who was accused of attempting to assassinate the President and must clear his name by eliminating those responsible.

Players earn medals and rewards as they complete their assignments with an arsenal that includes various types of sniper rifles, pistols, grenades, and pipe bombs. The accelerometer is used to zero in on a target, while nighttime missions add a degree of complexity. The game's missions take place in cities, deserts, forests, mountains, and snow, each of which requires a different set of skills. Mini-games and puzzles let players put all their skills together to continue the story.

Pricing is US$0.99 for a limited time -- the publisher did not say when that price will expire, nor what the new price will be. iPhone software 2.0 is required.

I definitely will be getting this application for my iPod after reading this.  The achievements and medals looks like an interesting feature that should enhance the replay value of the game.  The graphics look pretty good from the picture as well.  I’m going to check it out on itunes right now.
