iPod, iTunes Take the Top Spot in Japan
Thursday, November 17th, 2005 at 2:00 PM - by Brad Cook
Apple announced in Tokyo this week that iTunes and the iPod lead their respective digital music categories in Japan, with the latter garnering nearly 60% of the market. As noted on Friday in MobileMag, the iTunes Music Store in Japan took only four days to reach a million downloads when it opened for business in July, faster than any other iTMS in the world.
Apple said that the iTMS in Japan offers over a million songs, 1,000 music videos, Pixar's short films, 11,000 audio books and 25,000 podcasts. It also noted that a third of the cars sold in Japan next year will feature iPod interoperability with their stereos.
